True Nature
Corset & painted skirt by Carla Campo Curbera on July 18, 2025.
Moved by an intimate connection to the natural world. I feel my energy through the sun, the wind, vibrant skies, and animals. I believe our TRUE NATURE is to connect to our animal within, to find peace, joy, and colors all around. I flew to Milan for IED’s Sustainable Fashion Creative Lab, where in three weeks I confidently designed a full garment from pattern to final. With paper, I delicately molded the body to form a corset. I lose track of time during these intricate moments. I love bringing to life illustrated designs into a seamless product. I draped a skirt using 2 meters of fabric hand-painted with whimsical designs embodying the power of spirit animals. The look was in honor and loving memory of my grandmother. I dedicate time to executing the little details that tell a story. During the course, everyone became very close. Peers enjoy collaborating with me because I am serious about achieving goals beyond expectations, whilst maintaining a positive, playful attitude. Working best in a diverse, intimate class setting that allows for emotional, complex work. Embracing sensitivity and the power of art to poke a nerve. To plant a thought. I’ve committed to connecting my art to topics powerful enough to plant a positive thought.
